Dr Poliness qualified as a doctor in 1993. She qualified as gynaecologist in 2002, after working for a year in Winchester (UK) alongside a leading gynaecologist and laparoscopic surgery specialist.
Following a 12 month fellowship in laparoscopic surgery in the endometriosis unit of Melbourne’s Royal Women’s Hospital, she joined the team as a gynaecologist. It’s a role she continued while studying for her Doctor of Medicine degree through The University of Melbourne, while also taking up a role at Mercy Hospital for Women.
Dr Poliness has also completed a doctorate degree in endometriosis and a master’s in reproductive medicine (fertility).
Along with consulting for Rainbow Fertility, Dr Poliness also has a practice at St Kilda Road and Collins Street in the city and has a public appointment at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Parkville.
She has expertise in treating patients in all areas of fertility, with special interests in endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), surrogacy, and sperm and egg donor programs.
