Steps to Becoming a Parent Info Evening

Understanding how to become a parent as an LGBTI person can be difficult. Our Medical Director Dr Andrew Davidson will be joined by Psychologist, Narelle Dickinson,  and Australia’s leading fertility lawyer, Stephen Page to help you get your head around the journey to parenthood.

Come along to an information evening this Thursday 4th May at 6:30 pm at the Brunswick Hotel in New Farm, Brisbane.

Dr Andrew Davidson will talk about medical issues to do with IVF, egg and sperm donation and surrogacy, including screening regimes, the use of egg banks, and the differences between known donors and clinic-recruited donors.

Narelle Dickinson has been a fertility counsellor for many years and is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Infertility Counsellors Association. Narelle will talk about the psychological and emotional impacts of undertaking assisted reproductive treatment, including IVF, egg and sperm donation and surrogacy; and how the parents’ decisions during the process to have children can have huge impacts on their children’s lives.

Stephen Page is a partner of Harrington Family Lawyers, Brisbane. He has had fertility clients from throughout Australia and 25 countries overseas. Stephen is an international representative of the ART Committee of the American Bar Association, and a member of the Surrogacy and Hague Project Committee of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Assisted Reproductive Technology Attorneys. Stephen will talk about the legal minefield that intended parents, donors and surrogates have to navigate when the decision is made to have a child – and how to do so safely.

We look forward to seeing you there!
