Partner IVF is a type of IVF for lesbians couples that allows both partners to become physically involved in the conception of the baby.
Essentially, it involves one partner providing the egg and the other carrying the pregnancy once the egg has been fertilised by a donor sperm.
The process of partner IVF is almost identical to the standard IVF process, requiring the selection of a donor sperm, ovulation stimulation and an egg pick-up, fertilisation of the egg with sperm, medication to help prepare the endometrium for the embryo, transfer of the embryo and a blood test 14 days later to check whether the pregnancy is successful.
